After that trainwreck promo segment on the April 4 episode of WWE SmackDown, the Queen took to Twitter on April 10 to offer a tongue-in-cheek apology thats clearly aimed at the online backlash shes been getting since fans saw her and Tiffany Stratton go completely off-script. But rather than apologize for mocking Strattons voice or dropping the infamous DM line, Charlotte chose sarcasm.
After being blindsided by my personal trauma on live television, my character said something on-air that was not true, and Id like to take this opportunity to clear the air, she wrote. I should have NEVER called the Chicago fans smart. I sincerely apologize.

The segment was already being dissected online after insider JoeyVotes revealed on WrestleVotes Radio that both Flair and Stratton went off-script. Flair was supposed to hit Stratton with a line about their career comparisons being insulting to me but complimentary to you, and Stratton was originally meant to fire back by questioning why Flair had only wrestled 30 matches in three years. Instead, what fans got was full-on shoot insults that WWE had to clean up after the fact.
Behind the scenes, sources described the whole thing as a wreck, with one person saying there was a collective oh shit moment when the insults got personal. Even though Stratton was reportedly warned Flair might go rogue, her 0-3 marriage jab caught everyone off guardand sent WWE producers scrambling.
Still, theres no real-life heat between the two, just the aftermath of a promo that spiraled. Now, Charlottes tweet only adds fuel to the fire, with fans split between calling her a legend for the clapbackor dragging her for deflecting the real issue.
