According to a new statement from Nemeths attorney, the ongoing lawsuit that accused AEW of blackballing him and enabling alleged backstage abuse by CM Punk will now be handled in private arbitration. This decision comes after both Nemeth and AEW filed to dismiss their respective cases in California and Florida courts.
There has been no settlement, Nemeths lawyer Mike Caspino confirmed to POST Wrestling. The parties have agreed to submit the matter to arbitration.
Nemeth initially filed his lawsuit in February, alleging that Khan and Punk (Phil Brooks) conspired to freeze him out of the wrestling industry. The complaint accused Punk of assaulting Nemeth backstage and claimed that AEW officials removed Nemeth from a scheduled booking after Punk spotted him at a hotel during an event in North Carolina.
AEW countered with a push to seal Nemeths contract and compel arbitration, citing clauses in his deal that require private resolution. Their argument? Making contract details public would cause irreparable harm to the companys competitive edge. Now, it seems that push worked.
Both filings were made without prejudice, meaning either side can bring their claims back to court if arbitration fails or if the case takes a new turn. That keeps the door open for future courtroom dramabut for now, the public wont get a front-row seat.
Nemeth, who last appeared for AEW in late 2023, has since been working with TNA and various indie promotions. Meanwhile, AEW has remained silent, offering no comment on the matter so far.
