AEW could be adding another major show to its expanding calendar, and we might already know the namethanks to a new trademark filing.
On April 14, All Elite Wrestling filed paperwork with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to lock down the name AEW Summer Blockbuster. While the company hasnt made any official announcements, the trademark filing suggests that something big is coming, possibly a new themed event or summer TV special.
According to the filing, the trademark falls under categories for entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests, as well as live professional wrestling performances and production of professional wrestling programs and events. Thats typical lingo for AEWs live events and pay-per-view-style shows.
AEWs calendar has been heating up, and this would be another stacked addition. This week, the company is airing Spring BreakThru out of Boston with both Dynamite and Collision broadcasting live. Notably, Dynamite will officially surpass WCW Monday Nitro to become the longest-running weekly primetime wrestling show in TBS/TNT history.
Looking further ahead, AEWs Double or Nothing is locked in for May 25 in Glendale, Arizona. Fyter Fest will hit Denver on June 4, and the companys UK juggernaut All In takes over London on July 12. Forbidden Door is slated for August 24.
AEW also recently filed another trademark: Paragon, which is now confirmed as the new stable name for Adam Cole, Kyle OReilly, and Roderick Strong.
As for AEW Summer Blockbuster, the name alone sounds like a potential summer tentpole. Could this be AEWs answer to WWEs SummerSlam? A new pay-per-view or TV mega-show? Nothings been confirmed yetbut this filing is enough to keep fans talking.
