Despite weeks of speculation that Mariah May could be on her way to WWE, it looks like the breakout star of AEWs womens division isnt going anywhere just yet.
PWInsider is shutting down talk of an imminent WWE jump, reporting that May still has significant time left on her AEW contract. Thats bad news for fans who were hoping to see her pop up in WWE during WrestleMania season or shortly after. According to one source, her deal could run through November of this year, while another added that there may be additional time beyond that.
Mariah hasnt been seen on AEW TV since her brutal loss to Toni Storm at AEW Revolution, and that absence added fuel to rumors she was done with the company. The gossip train kicked into high gear after Dave Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio that people in WWE know she wants to go there, and Bryan Alvarez followed up by saying May signed a two-year deal in November 2023.
What really stirred the pot, though, was a rumor that May had asked for a release shortly after her feud with Toni Storm wrapped. But PWInsider addressed that as well: There was a rumor making the roundsthat May had requested a release from her AEW deal but at the time we were never able to confirm that was accurate. Obviously, she has not been released.
As for WWE, sources close to the company are playing it coolwhen asked about interest in May, they reportedly played coy, simply pointing out that shes signed elsewhere.
So while Mariah Mays name keeps popping up in conversations about WWEs future womens roster, the facts are clear: shes still under AEW contract and theres no indication a release has been granted or is coming anytime soon.
