WWEs Roast of WrestleMania might be packing some serious heatand not just from the jokes.
Set to go down on April 20 at the BleauLive Theatre in Las Vegas, just hours after WrestleMania 41 wraps at Allegiant Stadium, the private event promises to be full of shots, jabs, and laughs. But dont expect to catch it live. Now we know why.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is playing it safe by not airing the roast as it happens. Those that we spoke to about the WrestleMania Roast say that it may emerge for viewing at some point, but that running it live was a bit of a risk, the report stated.
Its not hard to see why. The roast is hosted by controversial comedian Tony Hinchcliffewho made headlines earlier this year for delivering racist jokes at a Donald Trump rally at Madison Square Garden. His set included offensive jabs about Puerto Ricans, Black communities, large Latino families, and Palestinians. With that kind of track record, going live with his material was bound to raise some red flags.
The event will feature WWE talent like Sami Zayn, The Miz, Braun Strowman, and Paul Heyman. But not everyone on the roster is thrilled. Sean Ross Sapp addressed the vibe behind the scenes on The Hump, saying, Have I gotten messages from people rolling their eyes? Yes, absolutely. Absolutely.
WWEs decision to keep the roast off-airfor nowseems to be a calculated move to avoid any live controversies or backlash. If the content ends up being safe enough, fans may get a chance to watch it later. Until then, it stays under wraps.
Do you think WWE made the right call not airing the roast live? Or should they have taken the risk and let fans watch it in real-time? Share your thoughts in the comments and let us know where you stand.
