The April 14 episode of WWE RAW delivered one of the most chaotic and emotional closing segments in recent memoryand now we know who was pulling the strings behind the scenes.
According to Fightful Select, the powerhouse segment featuring Seth Rollins, CM Punk, and Roman Reigns was written by Alexandra Williams and produced by WWE Hall of Famer Michael Hayes. Their work helped set the tone for WrestleMania 41s massive night one main event, and fans are still talking about the drama that unfolded inside the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
The segment began backstage with CM Punk approaching a very tense Paul Heyman. Moments later, Roman Reigns arrivedbut he didnt stop to talk. Instead, he marched to the ring with Heyman chasing behind. Reigns grabbed the mic himself and stared down Heyman as the crowd erupted.
Youd never betray your Tribal Chief, right? Reigns said to the California crowd before turning his wrath toward Heyman. The fans let loose with you fcked up* chants as Reigns asked the Wise Man why he turned his back on him.
Heyman tried to explain himself through waves of boos, saying it wasnt a betrayal. Its not a betrayal. Its paying back a favor I owed CM Punk, Heyman told Reigns. But Roman wasnt buying it. I dont ask for favors. I take what I want, Reigns snapped back.
Seth Rollins entered next, and the crowd exploded into song. Rollins warned that if Punk wins, the business dies, which only sparked louder CM Punk chants. Rollins then pointed at Heyman, saying he made a choice to side with Punk, just like he made a choice to spare Heyman last week.
Things exploded from there. Roman nailed Rollins with a clothesline, shoved Heyman to the mat, and brawled with Punk. Punk took control until Reigns countered with a brutal spear. But just when it seemed like Punk was done, Seth Rollins returned the favor with a steel chair to Romans backa move straight out of The Shields darkest days. He followed up with a double Stomp on both men to close the show.
With Alexandra Williams crafting the script and Michael Hayes producing the chaos, the WrestleMania build just hit another level. Their fingerprints are all over the drama that set up what could be one of the most unforgettable triple threats in Mania history.
