Inter can secure their place in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday evening when they host Bayern Munich at San Siro.

The Nerazzurri were triumphant in the first leg of the quarter-final tie between the sides last week, earning a valuable 2-1 victory courtesy of an effort from Davide Frattesi in the dying embers. Their one-goal buffer means they will progress to the final four should they avoid defeat to Bayern midweek.

Simone Inzaghi's well-organised outfit seldom lose football matches - just five all season - and have the bulk of their first-teamers at their disposal for Wednesday's critical European encounter.

Here is how Inter could line up for the second leg.

GK: Yann Sommer - The former Bayern stopper made six saves and 14 recoveries as he starred on his return to the Allianz Arena. He often produced inspired displays against Die Roten during his Borussia Monchengladbach days and will seek another on Wednesday.

CB: Benjamin Pavard - Another ex-Bayern star aiming to frustrate his former employers is Pavard, who has proven his worth since joining Inter in 2023. The versatile defender fits well within Inzaghi's 3-5-2 system as the right-sided centre-back.

CB: Francesco Acerbi - The 37-year-old continues to serve Inter well and will toil with Harry Kane midweek. Keeping the Bayern sharpshooter quiet - he's scored 34 times in all competitions this term - will proven an enormous challenge.

CB: Alessandro Bastoni - One of the best centre-backs in world football, Bastoni's greatest asset is his intelligence. He's not the quickest or strongest but he's always in the right place at the right time.

RWB: Matteo Darmian - Another experienced head in the Inter ranks, Darmian is a notably inferior option to the injured Denzel Dumfries and had a difficult evening against Leroy Sane last week.

CM: Nicolo Barella - Reportedly a target for Liverpool and Manchester City, Barella is Inter's Rottweiler in the engine room. The Italian dictates the tempo with his energy and supreme technical quality.

CM: Hakan Calhanoglu - Calhanoglu has managed ten goals and four assists in all competitions this season - admittedly a fair few of the former have been penalties - which is a tidy tally for a deep-lying playmaker.

CM: Henrikh Mkhitaryan - Frattesi scored the winner in Munich last week but is extremely unlikely to enter Inter's starting lineup on Wednesday. Mkhitaryan will continue in the team with Piotr Zielinski injured.

LWB: Federico Dimarco - Dimarco missed the first leg but the energetic wing-back will be bombing up and down the left flank against Bayern, aiming to expose Konrad Laimer in a less familiar role.

ST: Marcus Thuram - The Frenchman has scored in two of his last three outings against Bayern - both coming with Borussia Monchengladbach - and will cause an injury-hit defence immense issues. He did exactly that during the first leg.

ST: Lautaro Martinez - Martinez scored a stunner in the first leg and his season tally now sits at 20, with seven of those coming in the Champions League. He's so often the difference-maker at San Siro.
