Fans were stunned during WWE Elimination Chamber when John Cena turned heel and aligned himself with The Rock. The unexpected moment also featured rapper Travis Scott, who ended up legitimately injuring Cody Rhodes by bursting his eardrum with a slap. Interestingly enough, it appears that The Rock was the one who told Scott to make the slap look especially hard.
While speaking during a discussion at The Anklers Business of Entertainment program at the NAB Show, Nick Khan and Triple H talked about the moment when Travis Scott slapped Cody Rhodes.
Khan stated that after the cameras stopped rolling, Triple H told Scott the slap was a bit too stiff and that theyd teach him how to tone it down, saying, It was insane and Paul did tell Travis after, like, Hey, you know, that was a pretty hard slap. Well show you how to pull your punches a little bit.
Nick Khan then revealed that Travis Scott said The Rock told him to hit Rhodes hard so it wouldnt look weak. Khan and Triple H both found the exchange amusing and had a nice chuckle.
According to Triple H, the only person who didnt complain about the slap was Cody Rhodes himself, he just wanted it to look real. The Game also mentioned that Travis Scott was like a kid in a candy store during the experience, and confirmed Scott would be at WrestleMania. He added that while people say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, everything that happens during WrestleMania weekend in Vegas will be seen and heard around the world.
WWE has considered bookingTravis Scott for future matches, as he has been training for in-ring competition, and the rapper himself made it clear he caught thewrestling bug and really wants to wrestle. Regardless, well have to see what role Travis Scott will play at WrestleMania 41, as its clear fans want to see Cody Rhodes get some measure of revenge on Scott.
Do you think The Rock was right to tell Travis Scott to slap Cody Rhodes hard, or was it too much for a scripted moment? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
