AEW isnt waiting aroundjust after Triple H teased WWEs global expansion into Mexico, All Elite Wrestling made its move official.
AEW announced that AEW Grand Slam: Mexico will take place on Wednesday, June 18 from the historic Arena Mxico in Mexico City. The event marks AEWs first-ever show in the country and will be a special episode of AEW Dynamite, airing live on TBS in the U.S., Fox Sports Mexico, and streaming on Max.
The event is in partnership with CMLL, one of Mexicos most storied wrestling promotions. Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 26 at 10 AM local time via AEWTix.com and Ticketmaster.com.mx. The announcement comes not long after Triple H went on the Flagrant podcast and gave a rundown of WWEs upcoming international ambitions. During the appearance, he confirmed that Mexico is on WWEs radar: Well be in France and Paris. Thatll be off the charts. Were going to go to Perth again, um, in Australia. You know, the Middle East is always off the charts. Um, you knowand we havent even touched South America. Go to Mexico. Like all these things that are upcoming, and we will be doing, Triple H said.
While WWE has not locked in a specific date or location for its Mexico debut, Triple Hs statement was the first clear confirmation that the company is planning something for the regionlikely in 2026, according to backstage discussions.
Bad Bunny had previously fueled rumors when he hinted that WWE Backlash could head to Mexico. That turned out to be premature, with Backlash 2025 now confirmed for St. Louis. But AEW clearly saw the opportunity and moved first.
Now the spotlight turns to June 18, as AEW looks to plant its flag in a country with one of the richest wrestling traditions in the worldbefore WWE gets there.
