AEW is officially rewriting Turner Sports historyand MJF is taking the credit.
Tonights special edition of AEW Dynamite: Spring BreakThru marks episode 289 for the company, officially surpassing WCW Monday Nitro, which ended at 286 episodes on March 26, 2001. The show will air live from the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts, with the milestone front and center.
To recognize the moment, MJF posted on Twitter/X with his signature sarcasm and self-confidence: What Nitro was able to achieve changed wrestling. Im proud of the fact that like Nitro (but longer ) Dynamite has managed to give both fans (from an entertainment standpoint) and professional wrestlers (from a fiscal standpoint) an alternative.
He didnt stop thereadding the kind of flex only MJF can pull off: And to think none of this would be possible without me carrying the company solely on my back for all these years Youre truly welcome.
AEW President Tony Khan previously received a rare nod from former WCW executive Eric Bischoff, who acknowledged the accomplishment on 83 Weeks despite his rocky history with AEW. Bischoff said, It does say a lot about Tonys commitment what he did isnt easy, no matter how anybody feels about the product.
With Dynamite now the longest-running prime time wrestling show in Turner Sports history, the milestone adds another major achievement to AEWs resumeand MJF clearly wants his name written all over it.
