Since the last week in March, we have been ranking all of the womens wrestling matches from WWEs WrestleMania over the years. The intent was to included every match a woman was involved in. However, my mind being what it is, often looked overlooked some mixed/intergender tag team matches. Five to be exact. And why is that? Because when I did my research, it listed the mens names first and I just blacked out.
Anyway, three of those five were already taken care of. Those were ranked as a .5 throughout the list:
47.5.WrestleMania X Luna Vachon& Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Doink & Dink the Clown
45.5.WrestleMania 6 Sapphire & Dusty Rhodes def. Queen Sherri & Randy Savage
25.5WrestleMania 34 Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle def.Stephanie McMahon& Triple H
Now that we are almost done the list, it has been brought to our attention there were two more matches missed. Obviously they arent going to place this high, but lets talk about them.
WrestleMania 22 The Boogeyman def. Queen Sharmell & Booker T
Sharmell had her ACTING boots on! Give this lady an Oscar because I was entertained. The match was obviously just a comic relief, but it was entertaining and we cant lie that it didnt have a storyline or build to it!
WrestleMania 33 Nikki Bella & John Cena def. Maryse & The Miz
I partly cant believe I forgot about this match. I mean, the proposal at the end should have been enough to remember it, but I didnt. It is probably because Nikki and Maryse barely did anything in the match. Much like all of Maryses in-ring appearances since this, she has maybe done one move, and the rest of the time is her avoiding being in the ring not very becoming of a former Divas Champion. And I am not sure why that has been the case? Even Nikkis suicide dive was on The Miz and not Maryse.
Anyway, the disappointment I have for this match as I remember the build to it was so much better than the match itself.
WrestleMania 19
Miller Light Girls (Tanya Salinger & Kitana Parker) vs. Torrie Wilson & Stacy Keibler Catfight
This wasnt a traditional match and actually wasnt even listed on the card so that is why I didnt include it in the countdown. It was definitely more of a segment where there was a bed and the results were the women pulling down the pants of Jonathan Coachman and pinning him.
WrestleMania 29
What would have been.
Funkadactyls (Naomi & Cameron) and Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay & Tensai) vs. The Bella Twins and Team Rhodes Scholars(Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow)
WrestleMania 29 went without a womens right. Yes, the match was planned and cut. This was aired on a Total Divas episode. The match did end up taking place the Raw after Mania in which the Funkadactyls and Tons of Funk won after Brodus pinned Sandow. But this doesnt negate the fact that the women were completely removed from WrestleMania that year. And as it is, they were removed from a match that also included the men.the women during this time frame were not being given valuable matches.
I think if it were to have taken place on WrestleMania, it was going to be booked the same way. The match was fineso I dont think I would have ranked it too high. The match was predominantly the men which was another smack in the face to the women.
Just throw it all away and do better! Which thankfully in the recent years they have.
