Triple H is sick of the constant nitpickingand hes finally saying it out loud.
The WWE Chief Content Officer turned heads earlier this week after telling Peter Rosenberg, This will sound defensive. I wish I could tell people f**k off being a critic. Be a fan. Go watch this and be a fan. Naturally, the wrestling world exploded with reactions, but now The Game is setting the record straight.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Triple H explained exactly what he meant and why he feels wrestling is suffering from people who forgot what it means to simply enjoy the show.
If I tell you that I saw a movie and I thought it was great and you should go see it You just go see it, youre a fan, you go watch it, you like it or you didnt, whatever, he began. If I say, Go watch that movie, give me a report on it, tell me all the things that worked and all the things that didnt, you go watch that movie differently.
He believes that shift in perspectivefrom fan to armchair criticcompletely changes the experience. At some point, you loved this and for some reason you got into being a critic. That ruins the experience.
Triple H also made it clear he doesnt base WWE creative decisions on online chatter. I dont put a lot of stock into what is on the internet unless it follows through to other things we do, he said. Using Jey Usos Royal Rumble win as an example, he pointed out that while internet reactions were mixed, the live crowds told a different story.
There are 15,000 people in a venue and its been sold out all the time, yeeting and going absolutely crazy when he comes out, he noted. Who do we listen to? The few people or the large crowd?
Triple H wrapped it all up by reminding everyone that fan feedback mattersbut only when it reflects the wider audience. People are allowed to love what they love and dislike what they dislike but you cannot base things on the opinion of some when the majority feels differently. When the majority starts to feel it, thats when you gotta listen.
At the end of the day, Triple H isnt saying fans cant have opinionsbut if youre watching everything just to tear it down, maybe youre forgetting why you fell in love with it in the first place.
