West Ham are searching for a rare Premier League victory when they face the relegated Southampton in east London on Saturday afternoon.
Graham Potter continues to underwhelm while in charge of the Hammers, but there were at least several positives to take from their 2-1 defeat at champions-elect Liverpool last weekend. Still, the loss extended West Ham's winless run in the Premier League to five games, and they enter the weekend 17th in the table.
They're been fortunate that the three newly-promoted clubs have struggled so much upon their respective returns to the top-flight. The London club are 14 points clear of the drop with six games to play.
One of those promoted teams could yet end the season as the Premier League's worst-ever team. Southampton parted ways with Ivan Juric after their relegation was confirmed two weeks ago, with Simon Rusk taking the reins on an interim basis for the second time this term.
The Saints were beaten 3-0 at home by Aston Villa last weekend and are still in need of two points to usurp Derby County's pitiful 11-point haul from 2007/08.

West Ham team news
It's been a miserable few weeks for Potter, who's struggled to maximise this West Ham squad with the 3-5-2 he's adopted. There were bright sparks at Anfield last week, however, with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus working well as a tandem up top.
The pair of makeshift forwards will likely continue in attack over Evan Ferguson, who's struggled for rhythm during his loan spell so far, but Niclas Fullkrug could return to the starting XI against the division's poorest outfit.
With one less midfielder likely to be included in Potter's lineup, Tomas Soucek, Edson Alvarez, and Carlos Soler could all find themselves on the bench.
Michail Antonio and Crysencio Summerville remain sidelined for the hosts.

Southampton team news
There was no overhaul from Rusk last weekend in terms of team selection, although the bright young playmaker Tyler Dibling could work his way back into the starting XI on Saturday. Dibling's endured a quiet second-half to the season but has nonetheless attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.
He could replace Paul Onuachu in Southampton's frontline after the towering forward suffered an ankle injury in the defeat to Villa. In his absence, Cameron Archer will operate as the visitors' number nine.
Charlie Taylor and Albert Gronbaek are both doubts, while Ryan Fraser is unlikely to return until later this month.

West Ham vs Southampton score prediction
Both sets of supporters are desperate to get to the end of 2024/25, but the West Ham fans will want to enjoy themselves on Saturday afternoon.
Potter is yet to convince Hammers' supporters a few months into his reign, and anything but three points on Saturday will spark more questions over his long-term viability in east London.
This is a team built to contain and transition, but they'll be expected to control and dominate this weekend. It doesn't suit them, but Southampton are so bad that surely the hosts will claim their first victory in almost two months.
Prediction: West Ham 3-1 Southampton
