Rey Mysterios WrestleMania 41 match may not go down as plannedand now theres word on who could replace him.
According to Wrestling Observers Bryan Alvarez, WWE is preparing a backup plan in case Mysterio isnt cleared to compete following his injury scare on SmackDown. In a subscriber update on Twitter, Alvarez reported: I am told still no word on Rey Mysterio, but Dragon Lee is the likely replacement if he cant wrestle. They could do Fenix, but my presumption is El Grande needs to win the first match and they probably wouldnt want to beat Fenix so early.
Mysterio was originally set to face El Grande Americanobelieved to be Chad Gable under the maskon Night One of WrestleMania. But after being helped to the back in visible discomfort following Fridays match, his spot is in jeopardy.
WWE is still advertising the match on social media. Just hours before the show, they tweeted: WWE Hall of Famer @reymysterio competes at #WrestleMania TONIGHT against WWEs newest sensation @Americano_WWE! Despite that, behind-the-scenes plans appear to be shifting.
As of now, theres been no official confirmation of Mysterio being pulledbut if he is, it looks like Dragon Lee is next in line to take on El Grande Americano in what could be a huge opportunity for the rising star.
