
WWE has been delivering amazing matches all year, keeping fans entertained with top-level action in the ring. Thats why many were excited to find out which match would win Match of the Year at this years Slammy Awards. With so many standout performances, the competition was tough, but a winner was ultimately decided.
The Match of the Year category includes some of the biggest and most exciting matches fans saw this past year in WWE. One of the biggest was Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, where Cody finally completed his journey and won the title.
Another huge match was CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre in Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood, while Roman Reigns and The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins was also another solid nominee. Other matches that stood out were Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam, where Liv gave it her all, and Damian Priest vs. GUNTHER at SummerSlam, a hard-hitting battle. Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles also delivered a great one-on-one match at Backlash.
The Mens WarGames Match was action-packed and full of chaos, while Bayley vs. IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40 told a great story between former teammates. Sami Zayn vs. GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40, GUNTHER vs. Randy Orton at Bash in Berlin and finally, Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk at the Raw Netflix premiere were all solid contenders.
In the end, there could have been just one winner, and Ludwig Kaiser came out to present the award. The Match of the Year Slammy was awarded to both Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 and CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre in Hell in a Cell. Given the magnitude and fan reaction to both matches, the tie wasnt entirely unexpected
With WWE on a roll in 2025, its no surprise that picking just one Match of the Year was tough. Both winning matches stood out with their great storytelling, high emotions, and unforgettable action, earning their spot in WWE history.
