The Rock felt that it was a good way to gauge the audiences response, and he was surprised to find many fans were excited about the idea of Cody selling his soul. While he wasnt in favor of turning Cody Rhodes heel immediately, he liked the idea for the future.

The Rock believed Cody was a smart and experienced wrestler who could handle a storyline like this, where the motivation for turning wouldnt be about titles but about his soul. This, according to The Rock, would have a long-lasting impact on fans and would transcend wrestling itself and he noted that fans seemed to really embrace the idea.

This comes after reports suggested that Cody Rhodes was originally supposed to turn heel instead of John Cena. Nonetheless, John Cena eventually defeated Cody Rhodes to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion at WrestleMania 41, so we will have to wait and see whats next in store for The American Nightmare, as a heel turn could happen one day.
