WrestleMania 41 had a lot of solid matches over the span of two days but the road to WrestleMania was not without its fair share of hurdles as plans changed often. In fact, it appears that plans for the likes of CM Punk and Roman Reigns were in flux as well.
According to Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp and Self Made PWs Ibou had already discussed several of the matches back in December and January that eventually appeared on a whiteboard shown in a trailer for WWEs upcoming Unreal series. The whiteboard contained tentative and preliminary match ideas, not finalized plans.
Some names, including Seth Rollins and CM Punk, appeared more than once, which reflects WWEs awareness of how plans can change and evolve. It was also noted that the plans involving CM Punk, Seth Rollins, GUNTHER, and Roman Reigns had been in flux during that time. Therefore, all their plans were in flux for quite a long time as well.
Thats not all, as WWE originally planned to have Jade Cargill square off against Nia Jax at WrestleMania 41 but an injury changed that. To add to this, The Judgment Day was supposed to face off against the Wyatt Sicks at WrestleMania 41 but it never happened in the end.
All of this shows that WWEs stories can change quickly. Big stars like CM Punk and Roman Reigns are part of important storylines, so WWE has to be flexible. They sometimes change plans because of injuries, how fans react, or new creative ideas. WrestleMania 41 showed that even the biggest event of the year can still have unexpected moments in and out of the ring.
