A trailer for WWEs upcoming Unreal series on Netflix may have just exposed what couldve been. A whiteboard shown in the writers room displayed several proposed matches for WrestleMania 41 that never made it to the final cardand fans are now getting a rare look into the chaos behind the scenes.
Some of the biggest match ideas that were changed or scrapped include:
- CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins vs. GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship
- Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair for the Womens World Title
- Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax for the WWE Womens Championship
- The Wyatt Sicks vs. Judgment Day
- Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch vs. IYO SKY & Asuka in tag team action
- Bad Bunny vs. Dominik Mysterio
- Bron Breakker vs. Drew McIntyre
Ibou of @SelfMadePW pointed out that there is overlap with CM Punk and Rollins names on two different matchups, and explained that this is because WWE had numerous WrestleMania cards on hand until the last one was finalized during the early part of the European tour.
He also added, I had noted in December that Triple H had numerous cards for WrestleMania, and that it was a very politically charged period for the company as top stars were circling and angling for their spots.
While the matches that made the final cut delivered, this glimpse into what was originally planned shows just how competitive the road to WrestleMania 41 really was.
Which of these scrapped matches would you have wanted to see most at Wrestle Mania 41? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
