For Jacob Fatu, his WrestleMania 41 victory wasnt just about walking out of Allegiant Stadium with the United States Championshipit was about real-life survival.
The former MLW standout defeated LA Knight on Night One of WrestleMania with Solo Sikoa in his corner, capturing his first singles title in WWE. But as he explained during his appearance on the Club 520 Podcast, the real win was much more personal.
Man, it was uh paying my rent on time, Fatu said bluntly. I mean hey bro, cause I remember brohey, I remember nobody wanted my autograph bro. The only thing I was signing bro is when I used to sign my papers bro when I was getting out of jail, you know what I mean?
Its a far cry from where he is now, standing tall on the WWE stage with his family by his side. We came a long way though man, it really just feel good to see my parents happy.
And while fans and fellow wrestlers have been congratulating him, Fatu made sure to give credit where its due: Everybody always say, Congratulations Jacob. Nah but man, its really my wife bro when they say it take a village to raise somebodyoh brother, Im proving you. I mean like, it came all through here.
Fatu also touched on how surreal the entire night felt: Man, it was a great moment though bro, it really was. It was cool. I can feel the energy still, bro. You know what I mean?
WrestleMania 41 marked a turning point for Fatunot just professionally, but personally. From signing jail release forms to signing WWE contracts, hes living proof that a comeback is always possible.
