WWEs Roast of WrestleMania was supposed to be unfiltered and over-the-topbut now its turning into a PR nightmare.
A two-hour audio recording of the entire event leaked online on Wednesday, April 23, and WWE has been moving fast to remove it from YouTube, Twitter, Reddit, and other platforms. But the content of the roast has already spreadand its easy to see why they dont want it out there.
Held at the Fontainebleaus BleauLive Theatre in Las Vegas after WrestleMania 41 Night Two, the roast was a public ticketed event, hosted by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe and featuring speakers like Nia Jax, Paul Heyman, Sami Zayn, R-Truth, The Miz, Braun Strowman, and Pat McAfee. But now that fans have heard what was actually said, its clear WWE is trying to distance itself from the content fast.
Heres what was actually said, based on verified audio:
One speaker opened with: Its Hitlers birthday, so Gunther is in luck.
Another joke referenced the Latino World Order: I wanted the LWO to come, but security said no outside items could be brought in.
A comment aimed at Jinder Mahal was: I wanted Jinder Mahal, but hes going through a middle-aged ISIS thing.
One of the more controversial moments involved a reference to past abuse allegations: Jokes about Alberto del Ro abusing Paige.
The show also included a jab at WWEs corporate diversity efforts: WWE has DIY and also, unfortunately, has DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).
A speaker tried to soften a moment with: Im not going to make jokes about Black or brown people, only for that line to be booed by part of the crowd.
Another political jab was aimed at Jacob Fatu: If our president saw Jacob Fatu, he would probably deport him to El Salvador.
Finally, one of the most grotesque jokes involved Gunther again: Gunther looks like Adolf Hitler put himself in the ovens.
Paul Heyman also drew gasps for an offhand joke during his set involving Shayna Baszler, reportedly saying: Shayna Baszlers penis.
Fans who attended described Nia Jax as the most personal and intense speaker of the night, taking aim at Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in ways that felt more like real-life grievances than scripted roast material. Her digs allegedly prompted Charlotte to unfollow her on social media after the show.
WWE has not issued a public statement, but their swift DMCA takedowns and aggressive legal efforts suggest the company never intended for this footage to leakand now theyre doing everything they can to erase it.
