Injuries are a normal part of professional wrestling, and AEW has had plenty over the years. Brian Cage is the most recent star to get hurt, and it turns out his injury is different than what was first believed. Because of this, he might be out of action for even longer than expected.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brian Cages injury is more serious than initially thought. Its now confirmed to be a torn quad, not a knee injury. While the typical recovery time is about a year, Cage is determined to return sooner.

Cage had been dealing with leg pain for months but didnt realize how serious it was. During an independent match in Los Angeles against Chris Masters, he went for a spinebuster and felt his left leg give out. He described the moment as feeling like a piece of paper tearing in half.

The injury wasnt caused by that specific move or moment, but rather from the damage that had built up over time. Cage had been pushing through the pain, hoping to make it to AEWs All In Texas before taking time off to recover.

This comes after Brian Cage recently confirmed that he did undergo surgery and is back at the gym. Cages absence will definitely be felt in AEW. With the roster constantly evolving and the schedule getting busier, his eventual return is bound to be a major moment.

In the meantime, his focus will be on recovery and coming back stronger. And knowing Cages determination, The Machine might just surprise everyone with how soon hes back in action.
