The Seattle Seahawks added to an already deep quarterback room by taking Alabama's Jalen Milroe with the 92nd overall pick Friday.
Milroe became the fourth quarterback taken in this year's draft, and he came off the board before Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.
Milroe joins a crowded group of quarterbacks with the Seahawks, who signed Sam Darnold to be their starter after trading Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders in March. Earlier this month, they brought back Drew Lock as the presumed backup, which has put last year's backup, Sam Howell, on the trade block. Seattle also has Jaren Hall in the mix.
It remains to be seen how Milroe will fit. One possibility is that the Seahawks use him as a wildcat option, something new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak had last season with the New Orleans Saints in Taysom Hill.
A two-year starter at Alabama, Milroe led the Crimson tide with 726 rushing yards last season. He scored 20 rushing touchdowns, which ranked eighth in FBS among all players and set a school record. Milroe completed 64.3% of his passes for 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2024.
Milroe becomes only the third quarterback that John Schneider has drafted in 16 years as Seattle's general manager, joining Russell Wilson (third round, 2012) and Alex McGough (seventh round, 2018).
