Tony Khan just dropped a big what could have been moment about AEW All Out 2022and it involved two legendary names.
Speaking on the Way Of The Blade podcast, Khan revealed that The Briscoes were originally slated to team with Jay Lethal at the event. The match that eventually featured FTR and Wardlow vs. Jay Lethal and the Motor City Machine Guns wasnt the original plan.
The first time I met them was Supercard 2022. I tried to get them involved in AEW after Supercard, Khan explained. At All Out 2022, when the Motor City Machine Guns wrestled on All Out, that was originally going to be The Briscoes teaming with Jay Lethal against FTR and Wardlow.
Khan made it clear that the original booking would have tied directly into the brutal rivalry that FTR and The Briscoes had been building elsewhere. It would have made a lot of sense, if you looked at what was happening with FTR and Briscoes. It would have been great.
Ultimately, Motor City Machine Guns stepped inbut even Khan admitted the shift was sudden. They kind of came in out of nowhere because we couldnt use The Briscoes, he added, leaving fans wondering what kind of match we might have seen if the original plans stuck.
The Briscoes were never able to make their full leap into AEW due to outside factors, but this peek behind the curtain shows just how close it came to happening.
