Rob Van Dam is known for walking off some brutal bumps but this time, even he couldnt just shake it off.
During a new episode of his One Of A Kind podcast, RVD revealed he suffered a major injury at the very end of his match with Matt Riddle. A lot of people dont know that I got hurt because it was the very last move in the night, RVD said. But I went up to the top rope and Matt Riddle pushed me off and then I landed on my feet. Normally I kind of like, hug the guardrail and my weight goes into it. This one I must have misjudged it a little bit, and I just landed on my feet.
RVD explained that what he thought was a minor sprain turned out to be much worse. Both heels blew. I thought that my ankles were sprained. I crawled out of there. I havent been able to walk since, he shared. After getting x-rays, he learned that he had actually broken both heels.
Despite the injury, RVD toughed it out during WrestleMania weekend, making all of his scheduled appearances. Its not something that Im not used to, I kind of routinely kind of go through this thing, but, man, it definitely made me cancel a lot of plans that I had for the next few months and WrestleCon and WrestleMania week, I made it through all the obligations, he said.
He also mentioned that he and his wife, Katie Forbes, had to skip all the parties during WrestleMania week, focusing instead on meeting all of his professional commitments before taking time to heal.
RVD has always been known for his resilience, but breaking both heels and still finishing out WrestleMania weekend obligations takes it to another level.
