CM Punk isnt just walking away from WrestleMania 41 with battle scarshes carrying the emotional wreckage of Paul Heymans latest betrayal.
In a post-match interview with Deadline.com, Punk opened up about the brutal chair shot he took in the WrestleMania 41 main event, and how the deeper wound came from Heyman turning his back on him once again.
When asked directly what hurt moregetting hit by the chair or Paul Heymans betrayal?Punk didnt flinch. Heyman has betrayed me before. Weve been friends for a very long time, and friends fight. Since hes betrayed me before, he knows how this plays out. He knows theres receipts coming for him, too.
That wasnt all Punk had to say. Reflecting on the emotional aftermath, he added, The betrayal and the mental pain, I think, are worse than the physical. I almost wish he wouldve done all that and stuck with Roman, because going with Seth was the real pain. But you know what? Seth needs him.
The shocking moment came during the closing stretch of the WrestleMania main event, when Heymanlong known as Punks former advocate and close confidantintervened at a pivotal moment and turned the tide with a brutal chair shot that left Punk laid out. Fans were stunned as Heyman aligned himself with Seth Rollins, a move that Punk clearly sees as the ultimate insult.
As of now, theres no word on when CM Punk will return to WWE television, but given his comments and unfinished business with Heyman and Rollins, its only a matter of time before he comes calling with those receipts.
