After WWE RAW went off the air on April 28, fans were already talking about the wild WrestleMania falloutespecially the escalating situation between GUNTHER and Pat McAfee. But now GUNTHER himself has responded to the Backlash match announcement, and his reaction says it all.
Taking to Twitter on April 29, GUNTHER reacted to the official WWE graphic for his Backlash match against McAfee with two emojis: a clear sign that he finds the whole thing laughable, or perhaps a dead man walking situation for McAfee.
The beef exploded last week after GUNTHER attacked both Pat McAfee and longtime announcer Michael Cole on RAW. McAfee didnt let that slide. On the April 28 episode, live from Kansas Citys T-Mobile Center, McAfee stood on the announce table and delivered a fiery promo. Calling himself a loyal motherfcker,* McAfee rallied the crowd and demanded that SmackDown GM Nick Aldis lift GUNTHERs suspension.
Aldis refused to budge on the suspension but offered up a different solution: McAfee vs. GUNTHER at WWE Backlash in St. Louis on May 10. McAfee accepted on the spot.
Now that the match is official, GUNTHERs mockery online only adds fuel to the fire. Whether his tweet was meant to intimidate or simply dismiss McAfee, its clear the former Intercontinental Champion isnt sweating the challenge.
