The April 29, 2025 edition of NXT made one thing clear: the womens division isnt slowing downlast night we had tag team tension, title defenses, and busted alliances, setting the tone for a night that asked just as many questions as it answered. This episode played like the first chapter in a very messy, very entertaining new season of NXT.
Lets get into it.
Earlier today, Ava welcomed back IYO SKY and asked if she had a partner locked in for the main event. She didnt. But then in walked Jordynne Grace, casually offering to tag with her. IYO extended a handshakeJordynne almost crushed itso they settled for a high five. Like adults.
Meanwhile, Karmen Petrovic was still stewing over last weeks loss when Ashante Adonis sauntered in, declared her a loser (along with Tatum and Gigi), and booked her in a match with Sol Ruca on her behalf. Karmen told him off, but he was too busy claiming ownership of their title shot. If youre wondering where this is going probably straight to a well-deserved roundhouse.
And in a surprisingly tender backstage moment, Meta-Four officially broke up. Noam Dar got his Heritage Cup back, but Lash Legend declared it was time for everyone to go solo. She and Jakara have Saudi on their resumes, Oras lighting it up in EVOLVE, and Dar well, hes back to just him and the cup. Make it make sense.
NXT Womens North American Championship: Sol Ruca (c) vs. Karmen Petrovic
This started fastKarmen opened with low kicks and a headlock, but Sol quickly countered with an X-Factor and sent her to the outside. She went for the moonsault, but Karmen moved, and Zaria caught Sol like a champ. Back inside, Karmen nailed a spin kick and hit a nice headshot that earned her a two-count.
Karmen kept control with a takedown and front facelock, but Sol fought back with shoulder tackles and that springboard backpack slam into a knee to the jaw. She set up for the Sol Snatcher, but Karmen blocked it and dumped Sol to the outside, then nearly stole it with a roll-up when they got back in.
Karmen landed a back kick in the cornerbut Sol dodged the follow-up and this time hit the Sol Snatcher flush. One-two-three.
Winner: Sol Ruca
Post-match, Ashante tried to get in Karmens ear again, but she wasnt having it. So he yelled. And she shut him up with a spinning roundhouse that might still be echoing in the Performance Center. Loud and earned.
Backstage, Roxanne Perez tried to patch things up with Giulia, admitting she was wrong about her. Giulia accepted the apologyand surprisingly gave her props. Together, they claimed theyd be unstoppable.
Kelani Jordan wasnt impressed with Sols title defense. She reminded everyone that she defended the North American Championship every match and accused Sol of taking the easy route. Sol clapped back, but Zaria reminded Kelani shed have to go through her first. Expect fists to fly next week.
Roxanne Perez & Giulia vs. IYO SKY & Jordynne Grace
Things opened with Roxy playing cat and mouse until she ran directly into Jordynne Grace. She ducked a clothesline that accidentally caught Giulia, and IYO pouncedstomping Roxy in the corner, double stomp, bodyslam, but Giulia broke up the cover.
Roxy and Giulia worked together to double-team IYO, but the Genius of the Sky slipped out and hit a gorgeous handspring double dropkick. Grace tagged in and launched IYO into a senton on Roxanne before lifting her into a powerbombbut Roxy reversed and tagged in Giulia, who delivered a takedown and a sunset flip attempt that Grace stonewalled. Grace bodyslammed her and followed with a delayed gutbuster for a nearfall.
Roxanne tried a sneak attack, but Giulia blinded Grace with an eye rake. Double-team chaos ensued until Jordynne flipped both of them into each other. IYO tagged back in, nailed a double springboard dropkick, and barely missed a jackknife pin.
Things got wild. Jordynne tagged in, cleared house with a German suplex and running corner strikes, then hit a stacked slam that nearly sealed it. She tossed Giulia into the turnbuckles, and IYO returned with a double stomp off Graces Gory rack. Roxy broke it up off the top rope. Absolute carnage.
Outside the ring, Giulia and Grace brawled all the way to the back, leaving Roxy and IYO to finish it off. Perez landed a huge superrana, a superkick, and an Asai moonsault after a Northern Lights Bomb from Giulia. That couldve ended itif Grace hadnt come back just in time.
Final stretchGiulia was taken out for good. Roxy and IYO traded bridges and roll-ups until Roxy went for Pop Rocks. Countered. Superkick. Knee. Sunset flip. IYO flipped through and drilled her with a head kick, then nailed the Moonsault. One, two, done.
Winners: IYO SKY & Jordynne Grace
This was a pay-per-view main event hiding on free TV. No missed cues, no wasted movementjust big offense, crisp transitions, and storyline momentum. Fantastic showcase for all four.
Sol continues to define her title run, Karmen may have found her fire by dumping Ashante, and IYO & Jordynne has incredible momentum atm. Its Roxanne and Giulias pairing though that has me intrigued, and where does Cora fit into all of this? Sound off in the comments below with your thoughts!
